Citizen of the World

I'd like to use tumblr to remember my travels, bring attention to the fantastic yet unsettling life of a foreign service child and to rediscover the fun I had in Zambia, South Africa, Portugal, Germany and Austria. I had a unique childhood that provided me with lots of adventures and a worldly perspectives. Now, I hope to share my stories and experiences to give a greater understanding of the third culture child.
As an American who lived 90% of my life overseas created an identity crisis. I couldn't identify with the typical American childhood and I was constantly moving into a new culture and having to learn new survival skills. I was fortunate to have a loving and supportive family and friends around the world to give me a great community.
It's not easy growing up with parents working in the Foreign Service, but it is truly incredible and worth every experience.

The Waltz

The author of this article is right about the Austrian’s being the snowboarders of the Walz. Having learned to Walz while I was in Vienna, I can tell you from first hand experience that it’s one of the scariest things to participate in. Not only are you learning the dance, there are hundreds of people watching you! No Pressure! REALLY!
